Funny

I realized it had been awhile since I'd taken some pictures of Zach, so I took some this morning and ended up with some funny ones that I thought I'd share...

Rosie & Jay's Wedding

This last Friday Calvin's younger sister Rosie married Jay Wright in Reno (home). They are a gorgeous couple and so perfect for each other. Everything went so well and we were so happy to be there! (thanks Rosie and Jay for waiting til we could come!!!)

The ring ceremony
Cal, his Grandma Jean, and Zach

I must admit it was stressful to travel with a 4 week old baby, but he slept most of the way on the plane (a 2 hour ride) and handled all the people and events very well. It was the first time anyone there had seen Zach except Calli, so he was a well snuggled little baby while we were there. I always knew that I would be protective of my kids, but hadn't really had reason to experience these feelings until we were in the airport on our way to Reno. Cal went to buy some water or something, so I was sitting by the gate with Zach in the carseat on the ground next to me. I swear it took all of my strength to restrain myself from holding him tightly and glaring suspiciously at everyone around me. Ha! In my head the nice looking businessman across from me was going to trip on him, or at least cough on him. The trash collector was going to drop a garbage bag on him. And surely that lady over there is going to walk over here, grab him, and take off any second now. Irrational? Yes. Maybe it's the hormones. (can I still use that excuse?) Or maybe it's just a taste of motherhood.

While we were in Reno we were able to spend some time with Calvin's best friend Aaron and his wife Amy. They have a 4 month old girl named Emma and we decided we needed to take some pictures of them together. It took them a minute to check each other out, but then there was some arm waving. Maybe the Gabbart and Smith families will join someday?

So Sweet

Why are little fingers and toes so precious? I can't resist them. He is such a good little sleeper. He has been sleeping for at least one 4 hour chunk at night. The night before my birthday he slept almost 6 hours straight! I was shocked when I woke up, but it was a great present!

Rub A Dub Dub

We were able to give Zach his first "real" bath Saturday and he liked it a lot more than the sponge baths. He only cried when we took him out.

Chunk

Zach had his 2 week check-up yesterday and "passed" with flying colors. He weighed an impressive 7 lbs. 8.5 oz.! He is growing a very cute double chin. It is so fun to see him change!

Little Old Man

Calvin changed Zach the other night, and pulled his pants (still way too big!) up really high when he re-dressed him. We decided he looked like a grandpa! Wish these pictures could do it justice- it was really funny. Oh- and he loves to flail his arms!

The Fam

At my parents' house on Saturday...Hi Dad!!

Thought this was a cute picture my dad took.

Rained Out

Friday night we thought it would be a great idea to go on a little walk, and decided to take a walk to Blockbuster to get a movie. As we headed out we noticed some dark clouds, but thought we could make it since Blockbuster is only maybe a 10 minute walk away. The wind picked up as we got there, so we hurried and chose a movie and started for home. Big rain drops started to fall right away, so we laughed and picked up the pace a bit. It had been such nice weather all day, and of course we had chosen to go on a walk in the 45 minutes of the day that it was stormy. By the time we were about half way it was really coming down, so we ran into a Walgreens where Zach and I waited while Cal ran home in the rain to get the car and rescue us. We then proceeded to get Zach out of the stroller, strapped into the carseat, got that in the car, folded up the stroller and put that in the car, and then drove the 2 minutes home! Isn't it funny how life changes with a newborn???
