two 2 dos deux zwei

Our Zachers turned 2! Once again we were in Reno for his actual birthday (hmm- a new tradition?) so we celebrated with my family the weekend before we left. Cal and I spent all day trying to do fun things for him.
We began the day with Zach helping me make his cake. He was on clean-up duty for me.

The plan was a firetruck theme. I made a banner with little firetrucks on it and was going to put a little firetruck on his cake, but left it off in the end.

We took him to Chick-fil-A for lunch and let him play in the indoor play area, which was great fun. Then we headed to Build-A-Bear at the mall. He wasn't sure what to do at first, but once he got his bear he gave it lots of loves. He chose a panda bear- with a NUGGETS outfit. Seriously, HE chose that! Cal was so proud. Zach was so happy it came with a little basketball. Now this bear is like his doll- it has to eat with us and he drags it all over.

That afternoon my family came over and there was plenty of wrestling and play in the backyard.

For some reason he loves to sit ON my lupine. He made Gary and Kim sit in the garden, too.

After a quick picnic at the park (it got a little stormy), we headed back home for presents. There was no question this year on how to open them. He was seriously spoiled and got TONS of fun toys. (I must say both he and I are grateful that he has some toys that hold his interest again!)
He was really excited about them all and had a hard time moving on to the next present.

Zach is way into music, so we got him this little guitar. He was rocking out- a funny look in his eyes and banging his head. If only we could upload our video...

Of course, he had to make sure the cake was okay.

He got Cal's help the first time, and made us sing and light the candles again, then was a champ at blowing them out himself.

Happy Birthday buddy, we love you!

A Quick Post

Man, I've been bad about blogging. Here are some quick pictures of what we've been up to.

Picnic on Flagstaff Mountain.

Plenty of running, of course. This boy loves to MOVE!

A couple visits from my Grandma and Karl.
General silliness.
Zach loves to try on everyone's shoes, especially his Dad's work shoes and my boots.

He's now a playdough fanatic and loves to color too.
LOTS of time at the community pool. Fantastic!

And of course playing with friends. Many evenings we are out in the front yard hanging out with our neighbors and their kids. Golf practice, riding cars, and sidewalk chalk are some of our main activities.
Raquel, Zach, and Skyler.
You've gotta love summer.
