Zach-attack

I thought I might share a few things about Zach these days:

- He has incredible amounts of energy and is always moving.

- He is starting to talk really well and jabbers away all day. This works to his advantage because he can better boss us around constantly. He is a little parrot and repeats most of what we say.

- He loves the pool and the park: jumping, climbing, running, climbing, swinging on bars, climbing, sticks, climbing, rocks, climbing, rolling down hills, climbing, and somersaults...

- He is an awful sleeper and would much rather be snuggled in bed with Cal and I.

- He recently moved out of the crib and into his "big boy bed." He loves it and maybe once he's over this cold he'll sleep there all night....

- He's currently cutting his very last 2 molars.

- He is very empathetic and kind, and usually very good and happy.

- He is outgoing and he LOVES when family is around, or friends he knows well. I think his energy triples.

- He is a good helper and needs to be involved in whatever we are doing. He carries a stepstool around and says, "I help."

- He loves a lot of people, but is a momma's boy.

- He is 27 lbs. and 35.5 inches (tall and thin).

- He does really well with colors and shapes, and we are still (of course) working of numbers and letters.

- His favorite colors are blue and orange.

- He likes books, animals, trucks, friends, puzzles, football, outside, sidewalk chalk, toy horses, and movies.

-And one more thing:

First Day of School

The other day I found Zach in his room very carefully packing his backpack with books. Our conversation went something like this:
Me: Hey buddy, what are you doing?
Z: I putting books in backpack.
Me: Oh, are you going somewhere?
Z: Uh-huh.
Me: Are you going to school?
Z: Uh-huh!!! (a huge smile on his face) Bye Mom!!!
He proceded down the stairs and marched to the front door, only to stop and ask for help when he couldn't get it open since it was deadbolted. He just had to go out front and march around the neighborhood proudly with his heavy little backpack.
How did he know that this is what happens?

A Picnic and a Fire in the Sky

Our last day at Tahoe we enjoyed an evening picnic (ribs) and some relaxing on the beach.

Zach got plenty of attention and as usual, people did whatever he wanted.
He does love "See-See."

We actually stayed late enough for the sunset, and thanks to some CA fires, it was amazing.

Reno

Of our 5 day trip to Reno, we spent 3 days up at Tahoe. Have I mentioned how much I love Tahoe? It's gorgeous and unlike anything we have here in Colorado.

We went up in the afternoon of our first day there and enjoyed a relaxing beach day, complete with lots of digging, mud throwing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The paddleboard is the newest Tahoe toy- which Calvin (C3, or Grandad Cal, or Cal's dad) made. It's like a large surfboard that you stand on and, um, paddle. It's a ton of fun.

Here's Zach and Grandad Cal (C3) on the paddleboard.
Right before Zach decided to jump in. Sink or swim? Sink! Zach was a little stunned but otherwise didn't care much.

The second day we decided to head to the other side of the lake and go out on the sailboat that Calvin's parents have a share of.

Hanging out with Mom.

Later that afternoon we let Zach do a little running through the sprinklers. Of course, it was record hot when we were there. He made all of us take a turn going with him and we didn't object.

It also happened to be his birthday, so we had a little party with the Gabbarts.

Of course, more fun toys.

Zach is awake and saying "Play Mom. Please. Play MOM!" so I'll do more later...
