The Mind of a Two Year Old

I promised more of the funny conversations that Zach and I have and, well, I've slacked. Yesterday I remembered to write down a couple, so I thought I'd share. I'm always so entertained to hear what he has to say.

(Driving to my parents' house):

Z: Mom, pirates live on pirate boats.

E: Yup. Do you see a pirate boat?

Z: Nope. I'd better go get one. Just in case we be pirates! ARGH!

(Driving home)

Z: I want to be a doctor!!

E: Really? Like Uncle Gary and Grandad Cal?

Z: Yeah.

E: Why do you want to be a doctor?

Z: So I can help you and baby. I want to help you.

Often in the car he gets going and just keeps talking. It's just a running commentary of what he sees and what might be running through his head. It's usually something like this:

Z: Green means go. GREEN! Red means stop. I see a dog. That man walking with dog. Park. I wanna go to the park. Momma? There's a man! He walking too. It's sunny. Sun is bright. Clouds are high. I see birds. The birds are flying. They're high. Cows! Moo! There's a barn! Momma, I see a barn!! LOOK! I need to get up in the sky like Super Why. I use my feet to get in the sky. I have shoes on. Super high. Super Why build a tower of power with me to get super high in the sky. Super Why play legos with me. I ask him. We see Dada? Dad's at work. Papa's at work too. They have to work............

And I thought my mind wandered.... Silly boy.

Brand New

Last week I officially became an aunt, and Cal an uncle. My brother Gary and his wife Kim had their first baby last Wed. He is perfect and I am smitten. It made me feel completely baby hungry and more excited for our little guy. But then, I hear their tired voices and think maybe I can wait those 3 more months.

Meet adorable Miles:
