Picnic TIme

The other day Zach and I decided to take advantage of the nice spring weather (in between the snowstorms we've been getting) and had a little picnic in the backyard. The snacks were good, but I think he was a little more interested in playing.

You know, things like "Bug Fishing."
Special Rock Finding.

Sandbox Digging.
Ball Kicking and Spontaneous Dancing.
Stick, um, Sticking?
And of course, pretending a stick is a pirate scope and
ARGHing.
Oh, I love having a backyard. Now if only this snow would melt.

The Nursery

I'm happy to say the baby room is finally ready! The shuffle from office to nursery turned out to be much larger than anticipated. And considering that with Zach I had the room set up when I was 6-7 months pregnant, this was cutting it close. :) I'm a little crazy like that. So now I can breathe a little easier knowing that things are all set.

This elephant sheet and blanket I found super cheap on clearance, thus the animal theme.

Making these pictures was a fun project and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

Thanks to Cal for help with the spray adhesive. I got it home and read the huge warnings of central nervous system damage and thought maybe it wasn't the best product to use while pregnant?

I found these wall decals online and thought they were fun. Something different. Zach likes them, at least.

Now it just needs one more thing....

Ramblings and A House of Boys

In the past few weeks it has hit me that I will be in a house with 3 boys. Obvious, right? But I think I'm just coming to understand what that means.
.
It has been interesting to watch Zach and his friends- most are girls- as they hit the 2-3 year old phase. A year ago their interests were very similar, but now I see them leaning towards more boyish or girlish activities, though they still love to play together. The girls love baby dolls and pink and princess stuff. Zach is into trucks, diggers, TOOLS and "fixing things", wrestling, firemen/firetrucks, and Dad. He seems to have become a full-on BOY recently. Or maybe I'm just noticing?

As I near the end of my pregnancy, my body just can't wrestle, jump, run, climb like he so wants me to. While he is still somewhat of a mama's boy, he is just smitten with his dad. He talks about him all day. "Dad can.... maybe?" He calls Cal a "workerman," and of course he is a workerman, too. The other day I said, "Your looking sleepy bud, let's go upstairs for a nap." He responded, "No! I not sleepy! I a workerman!!" And many times throughout the day he tells me, "I a big boy. And Daddy a big boy...."

Cal opens the garage door coming home from work and Zach runs in circles and throws his arms up and jumps and yells "YAY!" They spend hours in the garage "making things" and hours in the basement wrestling and playing ball. And while it is a little sad to let go of him a little bit, I love to see him grow and I love that he thinks his daddy is the coolest.

And I love my boys, of course.

Reunion #2

(Bergen in the stroller), Cynthia, Megan, Alycia, Katie, and me
About a year and a half ago my college friends and I got together in Dallas for a little reunion. This time I got to have the girls at my house for the weekend. We decided to do it kind of last minute and had to squeeze it in before baby time. The weekend was filled with talking, eating, and laughter. We did make it out to wander on Pearl Street in Boulder on Saturday. We got hit with some pretty good snow while we were there. My poor warm weather friends (2 are from Dallas, 1 from Arizona) were freezing! It was such a fun few days and it went way too fast. I'm so grateful for such wonderful friends!!

33 Weeks

The clock is ticking.

The days and weeks seem to be flying by us. I only have about 6 1/2 weeks left. We have been working hard to rearrange our house to make room for our little guy and it's been a somewhat organized chaos. It's crazy how different this pregnancy has been. About this time when I was pregnant with Zach I thought time had stopped and I would, in fact, never deliver. But of course, waiting is all I was doing. Waiting. Waiting. This time I am chasing. Chasing. I must say it has been a harder pregnancy this time around. After 7+ months of throwing up most mornings (and still occasionally), and now coming into the tough home stretch, I admit I'm ready to be done being pregnant. But this post isn't meant to be a list of complaints. That being said, I'm truly grateful for how fast time seems to be passing.

Cal and I have decided we are part REALLY excited. And part terrified. We are acutely aware that our lives will greatly change here soon, just not exactly sure of the details. What an adventure it all is! And so, SO worth it all.

This Boy's Got Moves

Danceteapot2, originally uploaded by ersphotography.

The other day I was putting away some laundry in my room and peeked into Zach's room to see what he was up to. This is what I found. It was just too good not to share!
